Explanations:
Peshwa was mainly the Prime Minister of the king of Maratha Empire. This post became hereditary from the time of Baji Rao-I. Its function was to look after the governance of the entire state. Bajirao II (1796-1818AD) became Peshwa after the assassination of Madhavrao Narayan. He was an inefficient ruler. In 1802, it made the treaty of Basin with British and accepted a subsidiary treaty under it. Due to which differences started among the Maratha officers.
