The 24th and last Tirthankara of the Jains was Mahavira Swami (Vardhaman Mahavira) (540-527BC). Mahavira left his home at the age of 30 and after 12 years of rigorous penance, he was attained Kaivalya under a Sal tree on the banks of Rijupalika river near village Jrimbhik. Parshvanath was the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism.
