As we move on with the ribbon-based options in File Explorer, we come across the Sort by option. The files and folders in your computer are arranged according to a certain sorting rule. You can change the look by simply clicking on the Sort by option. It opens a drop-down menu with sorting options for the folder or library that is currently open in File Explorer. If you want to apply another layer of sorting to create groups, choose the option Group by. You will again see a drop-down option box with a set of grouping rules like Name, Date, Type, Size, Tags and others.
You can change the appearance of your files’ look from the View tab. The View tab helps to organise all files and folders in your PC. It provides options for sorting files how they are displayed. When you activate this tab, you will see various groups for changing the window’s layout, files, current view, or hide certain things you see onscreen. Within the Layout group, click one of the available options to change how your files display onscreen. You can also preview the layout before confirming by hovering over one of the available options. To change the size of desktop icons on your computer, select the View option and select any of the display icon options to adjust the size of icons on your computer. Now, if you have activated the Details pane on the View tab, you can actually edit the details that appears for a certain file. In order to edit the details that appear on the Details pane, click on the specific detail from the pane itself. For documents, you can actually change like the ‘Title’, ‘Author’, ‘Tags’, ‘Categories’, ‘Content Status’, ‘Content size’, ‘Subject’ and ‘Comments’. But for images and photos, you can change only the ‘Date taken’ detail and not others.
