सूचना : अधोलिखितानां प्रश्नानां (प्र. सं. 308-322) विकल्पात्मकोत्तरेभ्य: उचिततमम् उत्तरं चित्वा लिखत। निर्देश : अधोलिखितं गद्यांशं पठित्वा तदाधारितप्रश्नानां (308-314) विकल्पात्मकोत्तरेषु उचिततमम् उत्तरं चित्वा लिखत- कस्मिंश्चिन्नगरे मन्थरको नाम तन्तुवाय: प्रतिवसति स्म। कदाचित् तस्य सर्वाणि उपकराणि भग्नानि। तत: कुठारमादाय स: काष्ठार्थं वनं गत:। वने एव शिंशपापादपं अपश्यत्। स: चिन्तितवान् - महानयं वृक्ष: दृश्यते। तदनेन कर्तितेन प्रभूतानि पटकर्मोपकरणानि भविष्यन्ति। इति विचार्य स: तस्योपरि कुठारम् उत्क्षिप्तवान्। तस्मिन् वृक्षे कश्चित् यक्ष: समाश्रित आसीत्। स: तं तन्तुवायम् उक्तवान् - भो:! अयं पादप: मम आश्रय: भवति। तस्मादयं सर्वथा रक्षणीय:। यतोऽहमत्र सौख्येन तिष्ठामि। तदाकरण्य तन्तुवाय: आह-भो:! अहं किं करोमि। काष्ठसामग्रीं विना मे कुटुम्ब: बुभुक्षया पीड्यते। तस्मात्त्वम् अन्यत्र गम्यताम्। अहम् एनं कर्तिष्यामि। यक्ष आह- भो: ! अहं तुष्टोऽस्मि। तत्प्रार्थ्यतामभीष्टम् एनं पादपं च रक्ष। तदा तन्तुवाय: अवदत् - इदानीं स्वगृहं गत्वा स्वमित्रं स्वभार्याम् च पृष्ट्वा आगमिष्यामि। यक्ष: अनुमतिं दत्तवान्।‘अचिन्तयत्’ इति पदस्य समानार्थकः शब्दः अनुच्छेदेऽस्मिन् प्रयुक्तः। तच्चित्वा लिखत
