Explanations:
After the Battle of Kalinga fought in 261 BC, Ashoka saw that the whole cities were destroyed & more than a thousand people were killed in the war. The horrors of war disturbed him so much that he decided to shun violence for the rest of his life & adopted Buddhism in about 263 BC, Moggaliputta-Tissa became his mentor. Ashoka had conducted the 3rd Buddhist council at Pataliputra in 250 BC.
