निर्देश- प्रश्न संख्या (185 से 191) निम्नलिखितं गद्यांशं पठित्वा सप्तप्रश्नानां उत्तराणि समुचितं विकल्पं चित्वा दत्त– अस्ति कस्मिंश्चिद्वनोद्देशे मदोत्कटो नाम सिंह: प्रतिवसति स्म। तस्य च अनुचरा अन्य द्वीपिवायसगोमायव: सन्ति । अथ कदाचित् तै: इतस्ततो भ्रमद्भि: सार्थभ्रष्ट: क्रथनको नाम उष्टो दृष्ट:। अथ सिंह आह- ‘‘अहो! अपूर्वमिदं सत्त्वम् । तज्ज्ञायतां किमेतदारण्यकं ग्राम्यं वा’’ इति। तच्छ्रुत्वा वायस आह- ‘‘भो स्वामिन्! ग्राम्योऽयमुष्ट्रनामा जीवविशेषस्तव भोज्य:। तत् व्यापाद्यताम्। सिंह आह- ‘‘नाहं गृहमागतं हन्मि उक्तञ्च। तद्भय प्रदानं दत्त्वा मत्सकाशमानीयतां येन अस्यागमनकारणं पृच्छामि’’। अथ असौ सर्वैरपि विश्वासस्य अभयप्रदानं दत्त्वा मदोत्कटसकाशमानीत: प्रणम्योपविष्टश्च। ततस्तस्य पृच्छतस्तेनात्मवृत्तान्त: सार्थभ्रंशसमुद्भवो निवेदित:। तत: सिंहेनोक्तम् - ‘‘भो क्रथनक! मा त्वं ग्रामं गत्वा भूयोऽपि भारोदवहनकष्टभागी भूया:। तदत्रैव अरण्ये निर्विशज्रे मरकतसदृशानि शष्पाग्राणि भक्षयन् मया सह सदैव वस’’। सोऽपि तथेत्युक्त्वा तेषां मध्ये विचरन् न कुतोऽपि भयमिति सुखेन आस्ते। तथान्येद्युर्मदोत्कटस्य महागजेन अरण्यचारिणा सह युद्धमभवत् । ततस्तस्य दन्तमुशलप्रहारैव्यर्था सञ्जाता। व्यथित: कथमपि प्राणैर्न वियुक्त:। अथ शरीरसामर्थ्यात न कुत्रचित्पदमपि चलितुं शक्नोति तेऽपि सर्वे काकादयोऽप्रभुत्वेन क्षुधाविष्टा: परं दु:खं भेजु: अथ तान् सिंह: प्राह- ‘‘भो! अन्विष्यतां कुत्रचित् किञ्चित् सत्त्वं येन अहं एतामपि दशां प्राप्तस्तद्धत्वा युष्मद्भोजनं सम्पादयामि’’। अथ ते चत्वारोऽपि भ्रमितुमारब्धा यावन्न किञ्चित् सत्त्वं पश्यन्ति तावद्वायसशृगालौ परस्परं मन्त्रयत:। शृगाल आह - ‘‘भो वायस! किं प्रभूतभ्रान्तेन, अयमस्माकं प्रभो: क्रथनको विश्वस्तस्तिष्ठति तदेनं हत्वा प्राणयात्रां कुर्म:। वायस आह- ‘‘युक्तमुक्तं भवता, परं स्वामिना तस्य अभयप्रदानं दत्तमास्ते न वध्योऽयम्’’ इति।भक्षयन् इत्यस्मिं क्रियापदे क: प्रत्यय: ?
