Fifteen years ago, brothers Nadeem Shehzad and Mohammad Saud rescued an injured black kite and took it to a veterinary hospital. In fact, the brothers are the only people in Delhi who stitch back torn wings. Their patients often fly off even before the stitches are fully healed! "During Independence week, kite flying is a national pastime. However, the glass-coated kite string (manjha) is so sharp that it cuts through wings and bones of birds. It is dangerous for the pigeons, crows, owls, kites and other birds that get entangled in it! Often kite fliers don't realize that by leaving strings of cut kites on trees, wires and buildings - they're creating death traps for birds.
