The Election Commission has appointed special roll observers to monitor the SIR process.

  • The Election Commission has appointed Special Electoral Roll Observers (SEROs) to monitor the electoral roll revision (ERR) process.
  • These observers have been deployed in eight states – West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.
  • Their deployment has already begun, and they are expected to visit their respective states for two days every week.
  • The observers' presence will continue until the final electoral roll is published in February 2026.
  • The revision process is being monitored to ensure that it is conducted smoothly and transparently.
  • Meetings will be held by the Special Electoral Roll Observers with political parties at the state and district levels.
  • During these meetings, concerns and feedback related to the process will be heard and addressed by the Special Electoral Roll Observers.
