INS Androth commissioned into the Indian Navy

  • INS Androth, the second anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft (ASW-SWC), was commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard.


  • The commissioning ceremony was held at the Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard under the leadership of Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar.
  • INS Androth was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
  • The ship is built with over 80% indigenous content, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • It is designed to strengthen India's anti-submarine warfare capabilities in coastal waters.


  • The vessel will strengthen coastal defense and protect India's maritime interests from underwater threats.
  • INS Androth's induction follows the earlier induction of ships such as INS Arnala, Nistar, Udaygiri, and Nilgiri.
