On August 6, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the 'Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina 2.0' scheme in Guwahati.
The scheme has been launched to support the monthly financial assistance scheme to increase the enrollment of girls in higher education.
The application forms for the scheme were formally distributed by the Chief Minister at the Birinchi Kumar Barua Auditorium of Guwahati University.
Simultaneous distribution events were held across the state to ensure wider participation and awareness.
Nijut Moina is considered to be a flagship scheme of the Assam government aimed at reducing the dropout rate among girls and increasing enrollment in colleges.
Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided to girls studying in government and government-aided institutions from higher secondary to postgraduate level.
