International Day of the Tropics is observed every year on June 29.
The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise awareness about the specific challenges faced by tropical regions and the role of countries in tropical development to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
It is known that as a result of collaboration between twelve leading tropical research institutions, the State of the Tropics Report was launched on June 29, 2014.
Marking the anniversary of the launch of this report, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in 2016 to celebrate June 29 as International Day of the Tropics.
