निर्देश (प्र. सं. 118-122) निम्नलिखित गद्यांश पर आधारित प्रश्नों के सही उत्तर चुनिए। गद्यांश डॉ. रामकुमार वर्मा ने ऐतिहासिक एवं समस्यामूलक एकांकियों की रचना की है। उनके एकांकियों का मूल स्वर आदर्शवादी है। प्रेम, सेवा, उदारता, त्याग और बलिदान की भावनाओं से ओत-प्रोत इन ऐतिहासिक एकांकियों में भारत के अतीत गौरव को प्रस्तुत करते हुए राष्ट्रीयता की भावना जगाने का प्रयास किया गया है। समस्यामूलक एकांकियों में वर्मा जी ने शिक्षित मध्यमवर्गीय दम्पतियों की अनेक समस्याओं - प्रेम, सेक्स, सन्देह, दम्भ आदि को कथानक का विषय बनाया है, किन्तु उनकी परिणति आदर्श में हुई है क्योंकि उनके एकांकियों की नायिकाएँ अन्तत: अपने पति के सम्मान की रक्षा करती हुई दिखाई पड़ती हैं यथा ‘रेशमी टाई’ की ललिता और ‘एक्ट्रेस’ एकांकी की नायिका प्रभात कुमारी। अतिशय आदर्शवादिता के कारण वर्मा जी के एकांकी यथार्थ से दूर हो गए जान पड़ते हैं, किन्तु एकांकी की शिल्प की दृष्टि से वे हिन्दी के युग प्रवर्तक एकांकी माने जा सकते हैं। आरम्भ, कौतुहल, संकलन त्रय, चरम सीमा आदि तत्व उनके एकांकियों में बड़ी सूक्ष्मता से विद्यमान है। रंगमंचीयता एवं अभिनेयता के गुणों से भी उनके एकांकी सम्पन्न है तथा उनमें सरसता के साथ-साथ शिल्प की प्रौढ़ता भी विद्यमान है। वस्तुत: एकांकी कला को चरम यौवन पर पहुँचाने का श्रेय डॉ. रामकुमार वर्मा को ही दिया जाता है।रंगमंचीयता एवं अभिनेयता की दृष्टि से वर्मा जी के एकांकी -
