निर्देश (256-264): निम्नलिखित गद्यांशों को पढ़कर पूछे गए प्रश्नों के सही/सबसे उपयुक्त उत्तर वाले विकल्प को चुनिए। ब्रह्मपुत्र हिमालय के उस पार का सारा पानी लेकर असम से होती हुई पश्चिम की ओर आती है और गंगा इस ओर से पूर्व की ओर बढ़ती है। उनकी आमने-सामने भेंट कैसे हो? कौन किसके सामने पहले झुके? कौन किसे पहले रास्ता दे? अंत में दोनों ने तय किया कि दोनों को दाक्षिण्य धारण कर सरित्पति के दर्शन के लिए जाना चाहिए और भक्ति-नम्र होकर जाते-जाते जहाँ संभव हो, रास्ते में एक-दूसरे से मिल लेना चाहिए। इस प्रकार गोआलंदी के पास जब गंगा और ब्रह्मपुत्र का विशाल जल आकर मिलता है, तब मन में संदेह पैदा होता है कि सागर और क्या होता होगा? विजय प्राप्त करने के बाद कसी हुई खड़ी सेना भी जिस प्रकार अव्यवस्थित हो जाती है और विजयी वीर मन में आए वैसे जहाँ-तहाँ घूमते हैं उसी प्रकार का हाल इसके बाद इन दाक महान नदियों का होता है। अनेक मुखों द्वारा वे सागर में जाकर मिलती हैं। प्रत्येक प्रवाह का नाम अलग-अलग है और कुछ प्रवाहों के तो एक से अधिक नाम हैं। गंगा और ब्रह्मपुत्र एक होकर पद्मा का नाम धारण करती हैं। यही आगे जाकर मेघना के नाम से पुकारी जाती है। इनमें से किसमें ‘प्र’ उपसर्ग नहीं है?
