Directions : (Q. Nos. 349-355) Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow by selecting the correct/most appropriate options. A remarkable feature of Edison's inventions was their basic simplicity. There were innumerable scientists possessing deep knowledge of electricity, chemistry, etc., but it was this unschooled genius who succeeded where they failed. What were his unique qualities? Firstly, he had an uncanny ability to judge the practical use of any scientific fact. Secondly, he was blessed with patience and perseverance. He would try out countless ideas till he found the right one. Third was his business acumen, which enabled him to earn the large sums of money necessary to conduct experimental work. Edison's enthusiasm for work and optimistic attitude ensured a long and productive life. Only after crossing the age of seventy five did he start slowing down. During his final illness, his curiosity about his condition, medicines and treatment made the doctors think that possibly he was taking this too as one of his scientific investigations! He passed away on 18 October, 1931 at the ripe old age of eighty four. During his lifetime itself Edison became one of the most famous men in the world. Honours were showered on him. Among them was the congressional gold medal in 1928 for his contributions to human welfare. In 1960, he was posthumously elected to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans at New York University. But the tribute that was most eloquent was quite unintended. The authorities contemplated switching off the power supply in New York, the scene of his triumph in 1882, for two minutes as a mark of respect on his death. But 1931 was not 1882. Since normal life would have come to a standstill by the two minutes power cutoff, the idea was given up. There could be no greater tribute to the man than this negative tribute! निर्देश : निम्नलिखित गद्यांश को पढ़कर पूछे गए प्रश्नों (प्र.सं. 99 से 105) में सही। सबसे उपयुक्त उत्तर वाले विकल्प को चुनिए। जीवन में कभी अभाव का दुख, कभी स्वभाव का और कभी दुर्भाव का और इससे भी ऊपर सदैव तनाव का दुख घेरे रहता है। इन्हीं दुखों के वशीभूत हम टकराव की जिंदगी जीते हुए बिखराव का दुख भोगते हैं। दुखों से सभी डरते हैं, क्योंकि दुख अप्रिय हैं। दुखों से दूर रहने और सुख पाने की चाह में हम नए-नए पापों में प्रवेश करने लगते हैं। यही हमारी सबसे बड़ी भूल होती है। पाप का फल सुख रोकता है। सुख चाहिए तो पापों से मुक्त होने की चाह जागृत करनी होगी। दुखों से छुटकारा और सुख प्राप्ति का एकमात्र मार्ग है धर्म को आत्मसात करना। जहाँ धर्म है, वहाँ पाप नहीं है और जब पाप नहीं तो वहाँ दुख नहीं। जहाँ दुख नहीं वहाँ सुख को अनंत होने का पूरा अवसर प्राप्त होता है। दुख हमारी भूल और हमारे मानवीय स्तर से गिरकर घिनौने कर्मो का फल है। सबसे बड़ी भूल है :
