Music emanates from Naad which is manifested in the five natural elements- earth, water, fire, air and space/ether. It is also called Brahm Naad, which is the basis of life in the world. 2. Naad is the source of generation of music which is a dramatic performance with song, musical instruments, and dance. In ancient India, the shlokas of the Vedas used to be sung in melodious tunes while performing religious rites during festivals and specific celebrations. Vedic music or Sama Sangeet or Classical music has to follow rules strictly according to scriptures. Classical music is a tool for our spiritual empowerment, discipline, brotherhood, dignity and unity. 3. Then, folk songs and folk dances began to be perfumed in social and family get together for amusement in villages or on occasions like marriage, birthday and seasonal festivals. The art of music purifies and heals our mind and intellect. This connects our soul to God, and we attain peace and bliss. Sweet melodies produce positive impact on the aura. This triggers the process of purging the mind of the seeker of negative tendencies and impurities, leading to cheer and joy. Those who suffer from depression get cured. We forget our worries and misery and become happy in true sense. The experience of music takes one to higher levels of consciousness and one can begin to feel the spiritual resonance within.
