On September 1, the 14th edition of the joint military exercise, Maitree-XIV, between the armies of India and Thailand began at the Joint Training Centre in Umroi, Meghalaya.
The exercise will be conducted from September 1 to September 14, 2025.
The exercise is part of the regular military-to-military exchange programme between the two countries aimed at enhancing interoperability and mutual understanding.
The previous edition of Exercise Maitree was conducted at Fort Wachirapaksan in Tak Province, Thailand.
A contingent of 120 Indian military personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment has been deployed for the exercise.
53 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Battalion, 14th Infantry Brigade of the Royal Thai Army have also ensured participation.
This year, the exercise is designed to focus on company-level counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
