Anita Anand

• Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has appointed Anita Anand as Foreign Minister.
• He also appointed Maninder Sidhu as Minister of International Trade.
• He also appointed two others of Indian origin as Secretaries of State, which is equivalent to Minister of State.
• One of Anand's missions will be to ensure re-establishment of India-Canada relations, while also maintaining the delicate relationship with the US President.
• Ruby Sahota, who was the Minister of Democratic Institutions, has been demoted to the post of Secretary of State and given charge of tackling crime.
