Corruption Perceptions Index 2024

  • According to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024, India ranks 96th out of 180 countries. In this index, 0 points represent the highest corruption, and 100 points signify the complete absence of corruption. 
  • India's score is 39, which is slightly down from 40 in 2023, indicating a marginal increase in the perception of corruption in the country.
  • The top 10 countries in the CPI 2024 include Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, and Ireland, all of which have scores of 80 or more. 
  • These countries are perceived to have very low levels of corruption.
  • In the CPI 2024, India's neighboring countries are ranked as follows: Bhutan is 18th, China 76th, Nepal 107th, Sri Lanka 121st, Pakistan 135th, Bangladesh 151st, Afghanistan 165th, and Myanmar 168th.
  • According to the CPI 2024, Pakistan has fallen two places to reach 135th position.
  • This index is published by Transparency International, which evaluates the perception of corruption worldwide. Countries are ranked based on the perception of corruption in their public sector.
